Re-Entry Program Celebrates 30th Graduation and The Rehabilitation of More Than 700 Individuals To-Date

Program Serves as an Alternative to Incarceration While Teaching Valuable Life Skills

WHAT:

Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman will officiate at the graduation of 15 individuals from the New Orleans Day Reporting Center (NODRC). The ceremony marks the center's 30th graduation since the program's inception in 2009.

The NODRC program is an alternative to incarceration, which teaches participants the skills and tools necessary to succeed as hardworking members of the Greater New Orleans community. The graduating participants have undergone education, employment, substance abuse and anger management classes in addition to individual and group counseling sessions.

To date, more than 700 individuals have successfully completed the requirements of the program, with the majority having already secured post-employment opportunities.
